OUR EIGHT WILLAMETTE VALLEY OFFSPRING

ERIK PETERSON, violin, is a member of the Colorado Symphony and founder and artistic director of this festival. He performs a Mendelssohn concerto on Tuesday, Vitali and Beethoven Friday the 26th, Mozart and the new Obo Addy composition Sunday. Erik plays in the remarkable Children's Concerts, and repeats the Vitali in the Newport concert July 1.

KENJI BUNCH, viola, of Brooklyn, NY, an Oregon native and an award-winning composer, played a work of his own with the Corvallis Youth Symphony in December. Kenji returns to play Tuesday, Friday (Beethoven), and Sunday (Haydn and the commissioned work by Obo Addy.) In Newport on July 1, he will perform a new composition with pianist Monica Ohuchi.

SARAH KNUTSON plays first violin in the San Francisco Symphony. Sarah, a founding Chintimini musician who came from Corvallis, leads two Mozart works Friday the 19th. Tuesday she solos in Bach's 5th Brandenburg concerto. Sarah also plays the Mendelssohn D minor trio for Chintimini donors on Sunday the 21st. (Donor Soirée)

ADAM MATTHES, viola, Corvallis offspring and a veteran of two Chintimini festivals, plans a solo recital prior to the Festival, Tuesday evening June 16: Matthes Recital. He then performs in the opening Festival concert June 19, in a Mozart quintet — departing the following morning for the Aspen Festival.

JENNIFER PETERSON, harpsichordist, is also a vocal coach and opera conductor. Originally from Eugene, she lives in New York. She performs Brandenburg concertos 4 and 5 with chamber orchestra on Tuesday — and takes up her violin in the chamber orchestra for the Mendelssohn concerto.

ANNE RIDLINGTON, cello, of the Eugene Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, and the Corvallis-OSU Symphony, performs in the chamber orchestra Tuesday. On the 26th and 28th she plays Beethoven and Haydn quartets; and on the 28th in the première of Obo Addy's work.

NOAH SEITZ, cello, of the Oregon Mozart Players, originally from Corvallis, has arranged music for the Portland Cello Project. He performs the Mozart viola quintet in the opening concert, and in the Children's Concerts.

MICHAEL TUBB, viola, of San Francisco, veteran veteran of many West Coast festivals and a founding Chintimini musician, performs June 19 in the opening all-Mozart concert, in the chamber orchestra Tuesday, and Mozart's Musical Joke in the final concert Sunday June 28. Not to mention the extraordinary Children's Concerts.

GUEST ARTISTS and COMPOSERS

OBO ADDY, well-known Ghanaian musician, was commissioned to compose a chamber work for this festival. The Power of Humanism is scored for African xylophone, drums, string quartet, string bass, piano, and two French horns. Its première performance is part of the final concert Sunday, June 28.

CHARLES ARMAH, Ghanaian drummer, performs in Obo Addy's work and also in two public library Children's Concerts, in Monroe and Corvallis, featuring the story Tunji and the Giant.

LISA BIEBER, concertmaster of the Corvallis-OSU Symphony and a Eugene Symphony first violin, plays Bach and Mendelssohn on June 23.

BETTY BUSCH, horn, music director at First United Methodist Church, has taught horn, music, and instrumental conducting at every educational level. She is best known to local audiences as founder and conductor of Jubilate! The Women's Choir of Corvallis. Betty performs in the Addy work and in Mozart's Musical Joke, in the final concert June 28.

MYLES CRISS, organist at First Congregational Church, came to Corvallis after 16 years at All Souls Episcopal in Oklahoma City and 19 years as organist of Grace Cathedral in Topeka. He and Erik Peterson perform the Vitali Chaconne for violin and organ on Friday, June 26.

BEN FREIMUTH, bass clarinet in the San Francisco Symphony, performs the Mendelssohn clarinet sonata with pianist Alexander Tutunov on the final concert Sunday June 28. Ben also takes part in the library Children's Concerts June 27 and 28.

ELIZABETH FREIMUTH, principal horn of the Cincinnati Symphony, performs the Brahms horn trio Friday June 26, and in Mozart's Musical Joke and the new Addy composition on Sunday June 28.

ERIN FURBEE, assistant concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony and founder of Tango Pacífico, will be remembered from Chintimini festivals 2005 and 2007. Erin is part of the chamber orchestra Tuesday. On June 28 she leads the Haydn quartet and plays in Obo Addy's new work.

FRITZ GEARHART, violinist, of the Oregon String Quartet, took part in Chintimini 2002, 2007, and 2008. He solos in Bach Tuesday, plays Brahms and Beethoven Friday the 26th, and performs Haydn and Mozart's Musical Joke in the final concert June 28.

YVONNE HSUEH, concertmaster of the Newport Symphony Orchestra and a Eugene Symphony first violin, plays Bach and Mendelssohn on June 23.

ANDY KOLB, principal cello of the Eugene Symphony, performs the Mendelssohn trio in the Donor Soirée June 21, and in the chamber orchestra on June 23.

JESSICA LAMBERT of Oregon State University performs in the opening all-Mozart concert Friday June 19, playing a string quintet and, with Rachelle McCabe, a sonata for piano and violin.

RACHELLE McCABE, director of the piano program at Oregon State University, has graced nearly every Chintimini festival. She performs throughout the all-Mozart opening concert June 19, as well as the Mendelssohn D minor trio on the 21st. (Donor Soirée)

ROBIN OLSCHNER, bass, free-lances in the Denver area. Robin plays Bach and Mendelssohn in the chamber orchestra June 23 and performs in the Addy composition and in Mozart's Musical Joke on the final concert June 28.

JILL PAULS, principal flute of the Oregon Mozart Players and the Corvallis-OSU Symphony and a member of the Eugene Symphony, solos June 23 in the Fourth Brandenburg concerto.

CATHY PETERSON, Colorado Symphony assistant principal flutist, solos in Brandenburgs 4 and 5 on Tuesday. Cathy has been a part of the Festival in 2001, 2003, 2006, and 2008. Her Chintimini performances are often aired on Played in Oregon.

DAVID SIMMONS, singer and actor, all-round theatre pro and now medical student, narrated last year's Children's Concerts. He'll do it again: June 27 in Monroe and June 28 in Corvallis.

ALEXANDER TUTUNOV, pianist well-known to our audience, returns to perform the Mendelssohn double concerto June 23, the Brahms horn trio June 26, the Mendelssohn clarinet sonata June 28, and in Obo Addy's new work June 28.
