OUR EIGHT CORVALLIS OFFSPRING

ERIK PETERSON, violin, is a member of the Colorado Symphony and founder and artistic director of this festival. He will perform a Beethoven sonata, as well as Bach, Telemann, Bartok, Curtis, Bloch, Bunch, and Shostakovich.

AMY HANSEN, soprano, has drawn critical acclaim in major operatic roles across the country, as well as in concert appearances. She performs in “Going for Baroque,” the special event for Festival donors. See DONORS’ RECITAL.

ANN GRABE is principal cello of Oregon Mozart Players and of the Corvallis-OSU Symphony and a member of the Eugene Symphony. She performs in the >DONORS’ RECITAL, in the opening concert, and on Thursday in a Mendelssohn quintet.

MICHAEL TUBB, viola, now an active chamber player in San Francisco, was instrumental in founding the Chintimini Festival. He performs Thursday and Friday in Curtis, Bloch, and Mendelssohn.

GARTH GREENUP, principal trumpet of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, performs Baroque works in the DONORS’ RECITAL and a concerto for trumpet and strings on the first Festival concert June 19.

ANNE RIDLINGTON, cello, is a member of the Corvallis-OSU Symphony and performs with Corvallis Repertory Singers. She performs on the opening concert and in a Beethoven quartet and a Kenji Bunch quintet on the final concert.

ADAM MATTHES, viola, now finishing his degree at the Eastman School of Music, performs in the first and final concerts and solos Thursday in a work by Oregon composer Jacob Avshalomov.

VICTORIA WOLFF-ZEVALLOS, cello, is completing a degree at the University of Texas. This is her first appearance in the Festival. Tuesday she plays Saint-Saëns and Bach; on Friday and Sunday, Curtis, Bloch, and Shostakovich.

GUEST ARTISTS and COMPOSERS

KENJI BUNCH, composer and violist, is a native of Portland now working in New York. His works have yielded many recordings, commissions, and residencies from major chamber orchestras. He plays in all four concerts; his compositions are heard Thursday and Friday.

ERIN FURBEE, violin, is Assistant Concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony and founder of the Argentine tango group Tango Pacífico. This is her second appearance in the Chintimini Festival. She performs Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

FRITZ GEARHART, violinist and composer, is on the faculty of the University of Oregon. He last took part in the Chintimini Festival in 2002, in the Mendelssohn octet. He plays Bartok and Mendelssohn Thursday and his own composition Friday.

VICTOR STEINHARDT, pianist and composer, also of the University of Oregon, both performs and has works being performed Thursday and Friday.

MONICA OHUCHI, pianist, winner of multiple international competitions, performs Friday in a work by Kenji Bunch, and in the Shostakovich piano quintet on the final concert.

JEFF JOHNSON, bass, of the Oregon Symphony, will be remembered from the gala 2005 Chintimini Festival, when he performed in the Argentine tango event and in the chamber orchestra. On the opening concert he performs Bach, Telemann, and Saint-Saëns.

RACHELLE McCABE, director of the piano program at Oregon State University, has graced every Chintimini festival. She performs Tuesday in the Saint-Saëns septet and a Beethoven sonata for violin and piano.

PHILLIP STEVENS, violist, of the Colorado Symphony, another Festival mainstay, will perform Bach, Telemann, Steinhardt, Mendelssohn, and Bloch.

JESSICA LAMBERT of Oregon State University performs both as violinist and violist this year, on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, playing Bach, Telemann, Curtis, Bloch, Beethoven, and Shostakovich.

MIKE CURTIS, composer, formerly of Corvallis, plays bassoon and other woodwinds in symphonies, jazz groups, his own Klezmer Quartet, and the duo Oboe Madness. His new work Global Tour will be performed on Friday’s Composers’ Concert.

JENNIFER PETERSON, harpsichordist, is also an opera conductor. She lives in New York, where she is part of the Early Music ensemble Galileo’s Daughters. She performs in the DONORS’ RECITAL and on Tuesday’s opening concert.

SHIN-YOUNG KWON, violin, of the Oregon Symphony and the Arnica String Quartet, performs Tuesday in the Saint-Saëns septet and in the Telemann trumpet concerto.

JACOB AVSHALOMOV, long-time director of the esteemed Portland Youth Philharmonic, plans to attend Thursday's performance of his youthful Sonatine and to join the other composers for an informal talk with the audience Friday.
