The Emperor and the Nightingale — For Children

For the young — and grownups lucky enough to tag along — this year's Festival presents three performances of chamber music for children, featuring an original setting of the fairy tale "The Emperor and the Nightingale," by David Mullikin. Listen for flute, strings, percussion, and a surprise guest narrator. Two audience members get involved! The 40-minute concert includes a little Beethoven and a little Mozart. Playing the Mozart alongside the Chintimini quartet is a Corvallis quartet of eighth and ninth graders, Anne Wynn, Ichigo Takikawa, Rachel White, and Morgan Engle.

Newport Friday June 20, 5 pm in Literacy Park (indoors in case of bad weather.)

Children are invited to bring their favorite adults. No admission charge.
