Michael Tubb

Michael Tubb began playing the violin at age 8, inspired by Itzhak Perlman on the radio. As a Corvallis high school student, he won the state solo competition with his "favorite accompanist, Shirley Byrne."

He has been principal viola of the Debut Symphony, played with Eugene Symphony, Colorado Philharmonic, and The American Sinfonietta, attended Aspen and Peter Britt Festivals, and had his arrangement of the "1812" Overture for 8 violas premiered at the Oregon Coast Festival.

His teachers include Milton Thomas, Dorothy Delay, and "the incomparable Marlan Carlson."
