Catherine Peterson
Catherine Peterson, a frequent Festival player whose recorded Chintimini performances are often heard on Played in Oregon, is second/assistant principal flutist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and was principal flutist with the Central City Opera. She is a founding member of The Ivy Street Ensemble, which competed in the finals of the 2008 NFA Chamber Music Competition in Kansas City. Cathy was a semi-finalist in the Heida Hermanns International Woodwind Competition, the 2003 Houston Symphony Ima Hogg National Young Artist Competition, and the 2000 Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York. She placed second in the 1999 National Flute Association Young Artists Competition. She received a MM from the University of Michigan, and a BM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her teachers include Jeff Zook, Leone Buyse, Tim Day, and Walfrid Kujala. She lives in Denver with her husband, three sons and their black lab, and enjoys skiing and hiking.
