Erik Peterson

Erik Peterson, violinist, is Artistic Director of the Chintimini Festival. He also co-founded The Denali Ensemble in 1998 and performs chamber music with it throughout Colorado. Erik is a former member of the Michigan based Cassini Ensemble and Montana's Cascade String Quartet.

Erik has performed as soloist with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Up Close and Musical, the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra, and with other orchestras in Iowa, Colorado, and Oregon. In February of 2004 Erik performed Dmitri Shostakovich's 1st violin concerto with Marlan Carlson conducting the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra.

As an orchestral musician in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 1991, Erik has held several positions, including Assistant Concertmaster. Erik has held principal positions with Santa Fe Pro Musica, the Great Falls Symphony, Des Moines Metro Opera, Toledo Opera, and The American Sinfonietta with which he has performed throughout Europe and at the Bellingham Festival of Music.

In the fall of 2003 Erik began his pursuit of a Doctor of Musical Arts as a Dean's Scholarship recipient at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Erik's influential teachers include Andres Cardenes, Marlan Carlson, Leopold LaFosse and Camilla Wicks.
