Erik Borgir
After studying music and biology in Ohio, at the Oberlin Conservatory, and Boston, at the New England Conservatory of Music, he was appointed assistant to Professor Shirley Trepel in Houston, Texas. During this time he was awarded a stipend from the International Institute of Education, sponsoring a concert tour of Germany and Switzerland, and moved to Germany shortly thereafter in 1991. Chamber music has played a major part in his life ever since his first recitals in Corvallis with both his mother and his father. As a member of the Emanon Trio, winner of several international competitions and cultural awards, he regularly tours throughout Europe. As a soloist, he has performed and toured with various orchestras, and was a featured artist in Macedonia last fall, performing there for national television. Work with the Stuttgart ensemble Varianti, dedicated to performing the works of contemporary composers and working in association with the South German Raio, has led to numerous radio and CD productions. Erik is principal cellist of the Schloss Werneck Chamber Orchestra and teaches at the Music School in Stuttgart, where he also resides.
